The SAFIA Mycotoxin Kit revolutionizes mycotoxin detection: this immunoassay system not only provides sensitive detection of five mycotoxins, but also offers the flexibility of use in mobile laboratories.

Monitoring the food supply for servicemen and women, including the detection of hazardous contaminants such as heavy metals and toxins, is of great importance to the German Armed Forces. This is especially true for operational scenarios where on-site mycotoxin analysis is challenging. Conventional methods are often unsuitable for mobile laboratories. As part of a pilot project with the Central Institute of the German Armed Forces Medical Service (“Zentrales Institut des Sanitätsdienstes der Bundeswehr in München”) the SAFIA system was tested for its suitability for rapid on-site analysis of mycotoxins.

The pilot study investigated the accuracy and precision of the SAFIA assay in the context of food monitoring. For this purpose, commercial reference materials were used and analyzed with both SAFIA and established methods. The study, conducted at SAFIA Technologies and at the Central Institute of the German Armed Forces Medical Service in Munich, demonstrates the high precision and accuracy of the analyses. SAFIA enables high sample throughput, making it the ideal solution for extensive food screening and rapid response to potential contamination.

The full article on the study can be found in the issue July-August 2023 of the laboratory magazine LABO on pages 14 – 17 (German version only).
