Product development at the turn of the year TotalTox 6 sets new standards

We had a lot going on at the turn of the year: we worked intensively on the further development of our mycotoxin multiplex assay. The results are impressive: a new sum parameter, lower detection limits, and new kit names.

Our previous screening kit included the parameters aflatoxins (AFL), ochratoxin A (OTA), deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisins (FUM), zearalenone (ZEN), and T-2 toxin (T-2).

With this further development, it is now possible to reliably determine the sum of T-2 and HT-2 in our multiplex assay. This means we meet the current regulatory requirements and offer our customers even greater reliability in their mycotoxin analysis.

In the course of product development, we conducted an extensive validation study. The focus was on the analytical performance of the assay, and very convincing results were achieved.

In addition, a high-sensitivity protocol was validated, enabling us to achieve lower limits of quantification.

A further step was the revision of our product nomenclature. Our mycotoxin multiplex kits are specifically tailored to product-specific mycotoxin profiles. This resulted in the new naming structure:

• mycoProfile Storage - for typical storage toxins

• mycoProfile Field - for typical field toxins

• mycoProfile TotalTox - the complete package, one kit for all mycotoxins

The advanced screening kit is now called TotalTox 6.

The validated high-sensitivity protocol has enabled the following detection limits to be achieved:

• AFL: 0.9 µg/kg
• OTA: 1.2 µg/kg
• DON: 50 µg/kg
• FUM: 50 µg/kg
• ZEN: 4.0 µg/kg
• T-2/HT-2 12.0 µg/kg
