The Field Kit is a competitive, particle-based immunoassay for the quantitative determination of the four field mycotoxins deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisins (FUM), zearalenone (ZEN) and T-2 toxin in various food and feed matrices.
Deoxynivalenol, fumonisins, zearalenone and T-2 toxin are mainly produced by Fusarium species under field conditions and therefore belong to the group of so-called field mycotoxins. Deoxynivalenol is frequently found in wheat, barley and maize and is known for its strong nausea-inducing and immunosuppressive properties. Fumonisins are mainly found in maize and are associated with neurotoxic and hepatotoxic effects. Zearalenone is typically found in maize, wheat and other cereals and acts as a potent estrogenic toxin. T-2 toxin is commonly found in oats, barley and maize and is considered particularly harmful due to its cytotoxic and immunosuppressive effects. The field kit enables rapid and reliable detection of these four relevant field mycotoxins in a single analysis and is ideal for routine tests as part of the quality control of grain and animal feed.
