The Fruit Juice Kit is a competitive, particle-based immunoassay for the quantitative determination of the storage mycotoxins patulin (PAT), aflatoxins (AFL) and ochratoxin A (OTA) in fruit juices.
Patulin, aflatoxins and ochratoxin A are formed by Aspergillus and Penicillium species under storage conditions and therefore belong to the group of so-called storage mycotoxins. Patulin occurs mainly in rotting pome fruit, especially apples and products made from them such as apple juice or apple sauce, and has genotoxic, neurotoxic and immunosuppressive properties. Aflatoxins are frequently found in maize, nuts, dried fruit and spices and have a high carcinogenic potential. Ochratoxin A is typically found in cereals, coffee, wine and dried products and is mainly known for its nephrotoxic and immunosuppressive effects. The fruit kit enables rapid and reliable detection of the relevant mycotoxins in fruit juices in one analysis and is ideal for routine quality assurance tests.
